What To Do in Langhe and Piedmont

Posted on

tɛrra is much about food, of course: we organize cooking classes with ingredients and recipes of this territory such as fresh egg pasta, risotto, white alba truffle, premium black truffle.
We have a restaurant which focuses on the local tradition and has a wide selection of wine such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera and many others.
Being in contact with so many people coming to the Alba and Langhe area, or to Piedmont for a broader trip, we perfectly know that what tourists look for is variety. This is why we decided to start this page, sure to give you some useful information about activities and opportunities to enjoy as much as possible your time spend here.
All this, of course, after attending one of our cooking classes and having some good time at our restaurant tɛrra ?.

Restaurant #1

Just to show you how trustworthy the suggestions of this page are, I waited until now to insert our own restaurant, named tɛrra like to cooking school.
This restaurant is everything we ever wanted to create, and what we eat here is everything we would like to eat when we travel: loving so much good food we wanted to interpret the local cuisine stretching to the limit the intensity of flavors using both traditional and modern techniques.
The result? A short and well balanced menu changing with the seasons, with an interesting offer of antipasti that are perfect for a long aperitif as much as they are good to start a dinner. I won’t say anything as ugly as “Piedmont’s tapas”, but antipasti can be used the same way. Ola!

Being placed in the very center of Langhe, just outside Alba, we couldn’t forget to offer a wide and interesting wine list with traditional and modern wines, with great attention to our selection of nebbiolo, barbaresco, barolo and many others.

The setting is informally elegant, meaning we didn’t buy our furniture at Ikea and that we like having relaxed people enjoying the nice atmosphere of our dining-room.
In spring, summer and early autumn the panoramic terrace becomes the living-room of the small village of Roddi.

At the time I’m writing this post we still don’t have a website for the restaurant, but you can inquire by calling us at +39.(0)11.3188224.
The address is the same of the cooking school, Castello di Roddi.

Michelin Guide where are you
? The address in Via Carlo Alberto 15, Roddi. We’d like a little bib gourmand, just for the pleasure of being considered interesting!

Wine & Accommodation #1

I recently met Barbara e Arturo at an open day we organized at tɛrra. They have a beautiful Tenuta not far from where we are and they produce really good wine.
The Agriturismo is just incredible: made with real taste, warm and friendly, in a beautiful and quiet setting in a large park. Definitely worth being considered for your next trip.
The winery produces the whole range of local wines you could be looking for, with their top wine being a Barolo that got 90/100 from Wine Enthusiast and other top wine-devoted publications.

Spending the night where you drink your favorite wine: the best solution to avoid drinking and driving!

Vespa tour in the Langhe

Posted on

I know what people think abroad of the way Italians drive. This is not a problem, unfortunately it’s true, but luckily enough mainly in large cities.
This said, a kind of disclaimer, what I would love doing if I was coming to the Langhe is a Vespa Tour. Here the hills are nice and soft, the roads small and with dramatic landscapes. Every hill has a village to discover, every village a castle, a church, a bar or restaurant and at least 10 wine producers (disclaimer #2: don’t drink and drive!).
Luckily enough for you somebody decided to buy a lot of Vespas just to let you enjoy the Italian sun. Have a look here for more info and prices.

Well, ok, this is the Italian style…

Truffle hunt near Alba

Posted on

Often when near Alba tourists like participating to a truffle hunt. We understand this, it will be a nice activity immersed in the nature around the beautiful hills of Langhe. The options here are many, but not all of them are worth a try. In our experience the Consorzio Turistico Langhe Monferrato Roero is a serious operator and we feel confident when we suggest to contact them for a Alba White Truffle Hunt. You ca refer to this page for information and bookings.

Cooking class in Torino

Accademia FoodLab is our sister company, it’s based in Torino and will definitely be a good address if you don’t plan to come to Langhe during your visit. It’s always quite busy and we suggest to contact them for groups of at least 6 since accommodating individuals isn’t easy (except if you speak Italian, they run cookery classes for local on daily basis).
